Birgitte graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1990. After some time in general practice in both Melbourne and New Zealand, Gitte undertook 4 years of further training, completing an intern and residency program at The University of Melbourne, where she obtained her qualification of Membership of the Australian College of veterinary scientists and Master of Veterinary Studies. Further study at the North Carolina State University (USA) and Murdoch University (WA) enabled Birgitte to obtain her Fellowship of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists and subsequently became qualified as a Canine Medical Specialist in 2001.

Gitte sees many referrals and is always ready to discuss a case with a referring vet. Birgitte’s area of expertise involves the investigation, diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of disorders affecting many of the internal organs. Amongst the many causes of disease, cancer is a common problem diagnosed and treated. Although Birgitte’s Specialist qualification is in canine medicine, she is also happy to treat feline patients.

In September 2015 with 4 other employees, Gitte purchased the practice and hopes to continue to run it in the manner that it has run in the past.
Outside of work Gitte loves spending time with her husband Peter and son Benjamin, cycling, horse riding and spending time at her bush property. She is very passionate about saving our environment.

When not looking after her family at home, Del spends her time looking after her other family at Bundoora. A whiz in the kitchen, we enjoy her many cakes, desserts and her fantastic lasagna.
